Despite the rough and snowy start to the season... it's officially SUMMER at Gear Hut! Here's how it's going down this year:

The DROP OFF RULES As always: CLEAN YOUR GEAR. If it's dirty or non-functioning, we will not deny it. Seriously, wipe off the garage dust... or we'll be handing you rags and a spray bottle before accepting your gear! Plus, giving your gear some extra love = extra $$$.

BOATS:

1) CALL US before coming by. We need to make space/rearrange and clear a pathway to get boats into the shop! If you call, we can prep to ensure we can take your boat.

2) Boats must be CLEAN! Not leaf filled or spidery!

3) Check out this post for general pricing. Unfortunately the resale value of most leisure hard boats is low. You can always email us photos/details and we can give you a quote.

4) Space is first come first serve, and we have limits on different styles of boats we'll have in the shop at a time.

** Most in demand: Inflatable paddleboards and packrafts!

BIKES:

1) Gear Hut accepts mountain and gravel bikes ONLY! We do not do commuter/BMX/road bikes.

2) Bikes must be rideable: no flats, breaks must work and must shift smoothly. Our customers do not want a "project".

3) We will accept LIMITED and select bike apparel, mostly mountain bike specific. (Speedy road jerseys just don't move!).

4.) For how pricing bikes works, check out this post.

Gear Hut's Summer Season runs from April 1-Sept 30: That means, that by Sept 30, we need the shop pretty cleared out so we can begin accepting skis and winter gear on Oct 1. Summer items are subject to an End of Season Pick Up by Sept 30. All summer items not collected and still in the shop on Oct 1 will automatically be converted to shop inventory. As always, your big gear has a better chance of selling the sooner you bring it in! By mid summer, folks are already geared up for the trails/lake... and shopping demand drops off fast.

If you do not want your items to be impacted by the discounts of our "End of Season Sale" in September: your pick up date range is Aug 17-31st. Any unsold items AFTER our SUMMER Sale: pick up date range is Sept 18-30.

This will apply to:

  • Summer Apparel (shorts/tanks/sandals/dresses/boardshorts & bathing suits)

  • ALL Paddling Gear (boats/wet & drysuits/paddles/drybags/PFDs/etc)

  • Bike Apparel (jerseys/shorts/pants/helmets/shoes)

  • Bikes Racks

You are able to LOG IN to your Consignor Portal and check on the "end date" of your items. Anything with a 9/30/25 end date will be liable for our pick up dates and auto-conversion.

Pick up dates and the SALE will NOT apply to: Bikes or bike accessories (as we do take these items year round), camp gear (tents/sleeping bags/stoves/etc) or climbing gear. These items can stay in the shop for up to a year!

And as we get into prime camping season, here are some good reminders for dropping off "year round" items:

  • Tents must have poles and fly! (Footprint/stakes aren't needed)

  • Sleeping bags must be containable in some way: stuff sack/ pillowcase/ something! (Not in a trash bag!)

  • Footwear should be CLEAN and include insoles (we offer shoe Recycling for non sellable footwear).

  • Anything that has multiple parts (ie: aeropress/campstoves/etc) should be contained: zip lock baggie, stuff sack.

  • Coolers should be rinsed out/wiped down.

Do your best to audit your gear and ensure that drop offs are QUALITY goods!

We are currently accepting consignment during all open hours!
