How does selling my boat work?

Got a Boat collecting leaves? Haven't been prioritizing the SUP as much as you thought you would? We can help you re-home it. Gear Hut is the ONLY spot to sell used kayaks, rafts, SUPs, etc in Reno!

Summer’s here, and it’s the perfect time to pass your boat on to someone else who’ll enjoy it! Whether you’re upgrading or just want to make room, Gear Hut makes selling your boat easy in Reno!

How We Price Boats:

Let’s be honest – once a boat hits the water, it starts losing value. Big gear is a tough resale, and we don't want inventory to sit stale on the wall all season long. With 7 year's of experience rehoming boats, we've really nailed down the market. Here’s what you can expect for most boats we consign:

• 14'+ Sea Kayaks: $225 - $420

• Canoes: $150 - $275

• 8-10' Flatwater Kayaks: $100 - $225

• Hard SUPs: $80 - $280

• Inflatable SUPs: $80 - $380

• Playboats: $125 - $245

Obviously, there are always acceptions! You can ALWAYS email us info@gearhutreno.com with questions /photos/details of your boat, details and we can give you a general quote for a starting point as well!

Tips for Selling Your Boat:

Boats MUST BE CLEAN! Please rinse it off/shake it out before drop off! (We don't want to bring spider colonies into the shop!)

If you’re just looking to pass your boat along, consigning it through Gear Hut is a great option. However, if you’re after top dollar, we recommend trying Craigslist or Marketplace first. Either way, be sure to call us before loading up the car with your boat. We don't want to turn you away because we don't have space for you! As we get further into the season, we tend to have a waiting list, and space for large boats is limited! Boat intake usually shuts down (space dependent) by mid August! First come first serve... getting it in early ensure your best chances of it selling this season!
