Climbing Shoe Resole Service
Our newest venture: Gear Hut now offers resoling!
*Please note - Gear Hut resoling is for local pick up and dropoff only. We do not ship.
Swipe through our service menu and shoe qualifications below.

Note: Gear Hut's resoling service aims to serve as a reliable resource for Reno’s climbing community, dedicated to maintaining low turnaround times. To ensure we can help serve as many climbers as possible, drop-offs are limited to ONE pair of shoes serviced at a time. (Two people dropping off 4 pairs each = Six people we can't serve).
Next Steps:
(1) Take your shoes to any of our (4) Reno climbing gym partners. At each location we have secure drops & digital intake forms to start your resoling journey.
Mesa Rim Climbing Center (self serve drop box)
BaseCamp Climbing Gym (desk staff drop)
The Block Climbing and Fitness (self serve drop box)
North Peak Climbing & Fitness (desk staff drop)
(2) Once received, you'll receive a confirmation email.
Current turnaround: ~2 weeks
(3) When completed, you'll receive an email invoice. Once paid, your freshly resoled shoes will be ready for pick up at Gear Hut.

FAQs
Can I Ship My Shoes To You? NO. We ONLY work on shoes picked up from our 4 drop off locations in Reno. NO SHIPPING
How Long Will It Take? You can check the website for an update on turnaround times but it usually will take 5 weeks or less. Look out for an email when your shoes are done.
When Should I Resole My Shoes? You should resole your shoes before you have climbed on the rand for too long. When the original line above the sole edge starts to recede in places, that’s when you get your shoes resoled. It saves you from needing to repair your rands and can make your shoes last longer.
How Many Times Can I Resole My Shoes? It depends on how well you take care of your shoes but typically between 2 and 4 times.
Why/When Do I Need A Rand Repair? You need a rand repair when the rand (toe cap) has been worn down from too much climbing on the rand rubber. This can jeopardize the rand rubber to a point where the shoe won’t hold together well enough for climbing.
What Rubber Is Available? Currently, we have rubber from Vibram and Unparalleled Rubber available. We are working on stocking more rubber brands soon.

How Many Pairs Of Shoes Can I Repair At A Time? 1 pair at a time! Any additional pairs will be immediately set on fire and used to keep our shop space warm in the winter.
Can You Repair Holes In The Upper? We CANNOT repair holes through the upper (the fabric sock or inside liner that holds everything together). There are some resolers who can; we suggest reaching out to them if that service is needed.
Will My Shoe Still Feel The Same? We will try our hardest to maintain the shape of your shoe. We use the same lasts (or molds) that are used in the manufacturing process of the shoe. This will maintain the general shape of the shoe but it’s impossible to keep it the EXACT SAME as your weird gross feet with the extra long nails and the bunion you’ve decided to ignore.
Can You Resole Shoes With No-Edge Soles? Yes, but we don’t currently have access to the factory parts from those shoe brands. This means we will be shaping it by hand just like the rest of our edged shoes.
Will You Take My Old Dead Shoes That Can’t Be Repaired? We can take those shoes as practice shoes for our resolers in training. Thank you for the donation!
How Should I Treat/Store My Shoes? You should air out your shoes after using them every time. Not hard to do in Reno (the desert). Always keep them stored in a cool and dry place. DO NOT leave them in your car or your roof cargo box. They will peel almost immediately from heat melting the glue. Treat them like a pet in summer. You can leave them in the car for a minute with all the windows open as you run into the grocery store, but any longer and we will call the cops on you for shoe abuse.
What Is Your Warranty Policy? We DO NOT have a warranty policy for resoles. Too many different elements can change the outcome of a resole. If you notice any delamination upon pick up, reach out to us. We will not warranty shoes that have been climbed on.
