Ski Recycling Lives On (w/a few tweaks)

Hey dudes! A couple of weeks ago we did a community call to action, asking for help in locating a storage solution for our ski recycling program... we were BLOWN AWAY by the outreach from you - from folks offering up their front yards, to businesses with open parking lot space.

After discussions - Gear Hut's Ski Recycling Program will LIVE ON, with a HUGE THANK YOU to Mountain Dog Cycling! They've generously offered to extend space in their existing storage for us to hold onto skis/snowboards between seasonal pick ups with our SLC based recycling partner.
BUT - as always, every year brings new challenges and changes to programs. We are ONLY able to accept skis, snowboards and ski poles for our recycling program. No helmets, boots, goggles, etc.
Additionally, we are asking for a suggested $3 donation/recycled item to help keep this worth our time. Recycling is unfortunately a LOSS when it comes to business... but if we can at least cover costs for the (3) hours a week spent on in-taking, loading, unloading, and transporting, it'll justify us keeping this as an option for Reno.
Thanks in advanced everyone! And as always, thanks for the continued support in the shop's mission to keep products in circulation for as long as possible/safe.... and the proper disposal of skis!

Since the launch of our ski recycling program, Gear Hut has stepped up where much of the ski industry has yet to act. Since its start, our ski recycling program has diverted over 4,000 pounds of ski-related waste from the landfill (that's the size of an elephant!)
We believe that while we use our gear to enjoy the outdoors, it shouldn’t come at the cost of the environment we love. Unfortunately, the broader industry hasn’t fully embraced this responsibility — but we have. We're proud to continue to offer the Reno community a more sustainable way to dispose of ski waste, with the least environmental impact possible. Let's make it a big elephant this year!
