EVENT ALERT: Gear Hut, Reno’s local used gear shop, is teaming up with Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful for their fourth annual Neighborhood Cleanup in the Wells Avenue District. The shop is redefining Black Friday as #GreenFriday this Thanksgiving weekend.

Rather than succumbing to the consumerism frenzy at big box retailers on the day after Thanksgiving, join Gear Hut in getting outside for a morning of service. It also provides an opportunity to scope out local businesses to support on Small Business Saturday.
In a collective effort to address the often-overlooked issue of urban litter, the cleanup event targets the buildup of trash in alleyways, street gutters, and fence lines within our community. This debris eventually finds its way into urban habitats, impacting rivers, ditches, and fields. With winter approaching, the goal is to prevent the burying of trash under snow which can obstruct drains leading directly into the Truckee River.
Starting at 10:00 am on Friday, November 25th, the cleanup will begin at Gear Hut’s shop location, 318 Broadway Blvd off of Wells Ave. Participants will receive necessary supplies provided by Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful and will be organized into groups to tackle various streets and high litter areas.
