Why This Low-Snow Season Might Be the Perfect Time to Ski Diamond Peak
If you’ve been paying attention to Tahoe snow reports this winter, you know it hasn’t exactly been a record-breaking season anywhere in the west. But if you’re waiting for “perfect” conditions to get up to the mountain, you might actually be missing one of the most fun and underrated times to ski. Spring! Break out the shorts and sunscreen, make a day of it: hit the slopes AND the beach or East Shore Trail!
This year, Diamond Peak is celebrating its 60th anniversary, and the mountain is leaning into the moment with a series of $60 deals and community events that make spring a surprisingly great time to get on the mountain. There are TWO more chances to take advantage of this super affordable deal:
Friday, March 27, 2026
Sunday, April 19, 2026 (stay posted on updates for this one)
Try Something New on the Mountain

When snowpack is lower, expectations shift. Instead of chasing powder days, spring skiing becomes more about sunshine, soft turns, playing around in the park and enjoying the mountain atmosphere, especially at the mid mountain Snowflake Lodge.
That’s also what makes it such a great time to experiment and play (find the joy that brought you to the mountain in the first place). If you usually ski, try snowboarding for the day. If you’re a snowboarder, take a lesson and try skis. If you normally just lap groomers, spend a few runs practicing carving or riding switch.
With warmer weather and fewer crowds, you're dodging less people AND falling in soft spring snow hurts a lot less than midwinter hardpack (just bring a change of clothes in case you get soggy!)

Spring Events and Mountain Vibes
Spring is also when ski culture really comes alive. DJs spinning on the loft, beach theme parties, dummy downhill competitions, and our favorite, the annual Luggi Foeger Uphill Downhill Fest! Our Gear Hut crew is already dreaming up silly outfits for this year (look for a crew of hillbillies this year).
Reframing the Ski Day: Changing our Expectations in a Changing Climate
Not every ski day has to be about powder... and honestly this season, you could either choose to be grumpy about the conditions or enjoying a day with friends, trying something new and "calling in sick" for a mental health day on the mountain. There's still time to hit up the hill for a $60 day, try snowboarding for the first time after a life on skis, or get a team together to compete in a silly community competition.
Spring skiing at Diamond Peak with the best views of Tahoe might end up being the most fun you have all season. Do it, and don't forget the SPF Chapstick.
